Our Rationale

The six-county Sacramento region is growing – and changing – at a rapid clip.

Of course we've always been known for our rivers, our Gold Rush heritage, our agricultural production and our trees. But as more and more people and businesses come to region, we increasingly gain attention for our strong economic climate and job growth, our cultural diversity, and our activity and promise in the clean energy technology sector.

Our region's ability to cooperate and innovate also has a high profile, thanks to projects like the award-winning Regional Blueprint. The groundbreaking smart-growth plan was embraced by nearly every community and now used as a state model for linking land use, transportation and air quality.

The Partnership for Prosperity's regional business plan boasts similar support from a broad cluster of economic development stakeholders – from business associations and banks to universities and labor councils. By continuing to share and promote it the plan and its strategies within our region, we hope it will become more ingrained both in our daily work and the messages that our front-line communicators share with outside investors, media and other sources of economic influence.

By highlighting our region's strengths in similar fashion, we hope to help inform our community's sense of place and pride and drive robust outside interest in the greater Sacramento area as a place to work and thrive.
