Partnership for Prosperity
Full-court press on clean energy tech
Our work to implement the Partnership for Prosperity's regional business plan continues with efforts like the Clean Energy Action Team's recent marketing brochure highlighting our region's promising clean energy technology sector. Team members distributed the brochure en masse at a new green energy tradeshow, the Green California Summit.
Another recent highlight: the Sacramento Metro Chamber, with tremendous local investment from local economic development organizations and jurisdictions, is launching the online "MetroPulse" program. The business tool connects local businesses with key information from economic development professionals.
Meanwhile, PFP's Education Action Team continues work on a $65,000 study of our region's workforce needs, designed to help drive stronger pathways between local high school, vocational and college programs and the local workforce.
And the PFP Civic Amenities Action Team has begun community outreach to identify what kind of recreational, entertainment and cultural experiences our region favors and desires – part of an effort to create a blueprint for future investment.

Community Needs Assessment
Driving better access... to health-access data
Our Valley Vision-facilitated steering committee of regional health systems is making solid progress on the Community Needs Assessment, an interactive map of health data and facilities around a four-county area.
The map – already taking shape in the computers at Valley Vision and technology partner STLI – will allow users to click thru locations on a satellite map for data on obesity and other health indicators, plus the locations of nearby services.
It's designed to be a community resource that also helps inform the region's four nonprofit health systems – Mercy, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health and UC Davis – as they make choices about how to invest charitable funds.

Hmong Health Collaborative
Creating long-term access to appropriate health care
Ten community organizations that serve the Central Valley's large Hmong population are learning how to help Hmong residents help themselves when it comes to improving their access to culturally appropriate health care here.
Members of the Valley Vision-facilitated Hmong Health Collaborative are learning techniques that the Hmong can use to communicate about their needs for exapnded interpretation services and greater cultural literacy among the California healthcare providers. Members ultimately hope to help Hmong residents gain careers in the healthcare industry as well.

Cleaner Air Partnership
Supporting national policies that help local air quality
The Cleaner Air Partnership supported a broad-based team of regional leaders that explained the region's poor-but-improving air quality situation and needs in Washington D.C. this spring.
Several Partnership leaders participated in the Air Quality Team on the Sacramento Metro Chamber's 2007 Cap-to-Cap trip, a 400-strong regional delegation that travels to the nation's capital every year to promote business and regional interests.
The Air Quality Team promoted our region's green energy sector as a potential source of climate-change solutions, asked for cleaner locomotives and ships and tried to fend off budget cuts for local air districts. Read more about the trip here.

A comprehensive map of our region's protected lands is taking shape thanks to the work of eight business, government and environmental organizations facilitated by Valley Vision.
When complete,
the Regional Open Space Inventory map will show all regional lands permanently owned or protected for non-urban uses in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.
Recent activity includes addition of Sacramento River Delta areas protected by state regulation.
