YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
The Youth Development Project is a collaborative endeavor that seeks to build a healthy and supportive environment for our area’s youth as they make the journey from youth to adulthood. The way we seek to achieve this is by the following:
- Identify: To identify youth development services and programs in the Sacramento area;
- Connect: Establish and implement a communications plan for youth service providers (YSP) to connect with others YSPs, policymakers, funders, and the community;
- Measure: Create shared measurements and utilize existing ones in order to evaluate and understand necessary environments for healthy youth development;
- Develop: Develop a strong and accessible network of stakeholders that will help uphold the vision for youth development in the Sacramento area and work to support youth service providers.
Sponsoring Organizations:
The Youth Development Project is funded by grants from The California Wellness Foundation, AT&T, and the Sierra Health Foundation.
Youth Gang Summit “Kick-Off” Meeting Report
As a prelude to the June 2009 Gang Summit, a collaborative and community‐driven Kick-off Event was held to “promote the youth voice and increase the awareness of the issues surrounding gangs and youth violence while expanding the community’s capacity to address the problem.” You can download a report that describes key findings on our Publications page.
