Regional Industry Advisory: Supply Chain and Logistics Careers
Join the Los Rios Community College District and Valley Vision for a virtual regional industry advisory on Supply Chain and Logistics on October 29. This session will bring together employers, educators, and workforce partners to discuss workforce trends, regional demand, and career pathways across the industry. We’re excited to welcome a recently confirmed panelist from Bosch Semiconductors, who will bring an employer perspective to the conversation and share insights into the skills and workforce needs shaping the industry, with more panelists to be announced!
Supply Chain and Logistics play a key role in keeping businesses, manufacturers, agriculture, and communities moving across the Capital Region. As the industry continues to evolve, employers are seeing changes in technology, automation, transportation, inventory management, and the skills needed for today’s workforce.
We’ll open with regional labor market data from the Center of Excellence, then turn to a facilitated conversation with regional employers about hiring needs, entry-level opportunities, skill expectations, certification considerations, and the trends reshaping the industry. The discussion will also explore gaps between education and industry needs and ways to strengthen training and career pathways.
What we learn together in this session will help inform program development, strengthen connections between education and industry, and support strategies that advance workforce readiness for careers in supply chain and logistics across the region.
This session takes place on October 29th from 1 to 3 p.m. All registrants will receive copies of the presented materials, a recording of the event, and a report highlighting key findings from the discussion.
Regional Industry Advisory: Dental Assisting Careers
Join the Los Rios Community College District and Valley Vision for a regional industry advisory focused on Dental Assisting Careers on November 17th from 1 to 3 pm. Location to be announced.
This session will convene dental professionals, educators, and industry partners to explore workforce trends, regional demand, and career pathways in dental assisting.
Dental hygienists play a critical role in preventive care and overall health across the Capital Region. From private practices and community clinics to specialty dental offices, demand for skilled hygienists continues to grow, with evolving expectations for clinical competencies, patient care standards, technology use, and licensure requirements. As the field adapts to changing patient needs, regulatory requirements, and advances in dental care, alignment between education and workforce needs becomes increasingly important.
This advisory will provide participants with regional labor market insights and create space for facilitated dialogue with practitioners and partners about current hiring needs, skill expectations, certification considerations, and emerging trends impacting the profession. Participants will have the opportunity to explore training pathways and resource needs, as well as ways to strengthen collaboration between industry and education.
Input gathered during this session will help inform program development, strengthen career pathways, and support strategies that advance workforce readiness and high-quality dental health services throughout the region. All registrants will receive copies of all presented materials, along with a video of the event, followed by a report of our key findings.
Green Means Go: Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods
Building More Connected Communities Through Workforce Opportunity
Green Means Go is a regional initiative led by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) that brings transportation, housing, and community development into a shared approach to planning. It focuses on how these systems come together in real places, especially in communities that have historically seen less investment.
At the center of this work are Green Zones, locally identified areas where infill development is planned alongside transportation and infrastructure improvements. The goal is to support more complete neighborhoods where residents can more easily access housing, services, and jobs without long car trips.
Across these communities, challenges often look similar: difficult street crossings, limited transit access, and fragmented connections between housing and work opportunities. Green Means Go is facilitating a coordinated planning response that links transportation investments to neighborhood needs.
Valley Vision’s Role
As Green Means Go moves into implementation, the infrastructure work happening in each Green Zone will create real hiring needs in construction, engineering, and the skilled trades. Valley Vision is helping to lead the workforce development piece of this effort, connecting residents to those jobs as they come online.
Valley Vision is identifying and working with organizations already doing outreach in Green Zones, so job seekers can find trusted, local paths into training and employment. Working directly with each community, we are helping to project what jobs will open up, what skills they require, and when. Alongside schools, training providers, and workforce boards, Valley Vision is building clear pathways from training into these jobs, including upskilling for workers already in the field. By connecting with a broad range of local businesses, including those historically underrepresented in these industries, along with contractors who meet strong labor standards, Valley Vision is helping ensure hiring for projects within Green Zones benefits the community and reflects the values of the region.
This work is happening alongside SACOG, local workforce boards, community colleges, employers, and community-based organizations, so hiring pipelines are ready by the time construction of projects located within Green Zones begins.
Planning Projects Across the Region
As part of the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods grant, Green Means Go supports ten planning projects across rural and urban communities in Sacramento, Yuba, Sutter, and Yolo counties. Each project is located in a federally designated disadvantaged community and focuses on improving connectivity, safety, and access through coordinated transportation and land use planning.
Together, they represent a regional effort to rethink how infrastructure investment can better support the people who live in these communities today, while preparing for future growth.

This session will convene veterinary professionals, educators, and industry partners to explore workforce trends, regional demand, and career pathways in animal health.
Animal health services are critical to supporting producers, natural resource management, and community well-being across the Capital Region. From large animal and wildlife settings to small animal hospitals and specialty clinics, demand across the industry continues to grow, with evolving expectations for technical competencies, safety protocols, biosecurity, compliance, and field readiness. As the industry adapts to changing environmental conditions, regulatory frameworks, and advances in veterinary medicine, alignment between education and workforce needs becomes increasingly important.

Join Los Rios Community College District and Valley Vision on Friday, April 17, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. for a regional conversation focused on administrative careers in healthcare.
Behind every hospital, clinic, and community health organization is a team that keeps things running, manages operations, navigates regulations, supports patients, and ensures systems actually work. As healthcare continues to shift, these roles are changing fast. New technologies, evolving policies, and ongoing workforce pressures are raising the bar for what administrative professionals need to know and do.
This advisory brings together healthcare leaders, educators, and workforce partners to take a closer look at what that means right now. We’ll share regional labor market insights and hear directly from employers about hiring needs, skill gaps, and what they’re seeing on the ground.
The employer panel will feature representatives from UC Davis Health, Sutter Health, Marshall Medical Center, and California Correctional Health Care Services, offering perspectives from hospital systems, community-based care, and public-sector healthcare.
The conversation is designed to be practical. We’ll also dig into how programs can stay aligned with real-world needs, where opportunities to strengthen connections between colleges and employers exist, and what it looks like to build clearer, more accessible pathways into these careers.
