Isa joined Valley Vision in 2019. She is a Project Associate supporting the Board of Directors; the Innovation & Infrastructure and Leadership & Civic Engagement impact areas; as well as Valley Vision’s research and policy work. Prior to joining Valley Vision, she earned her Juris Doctor degree in the Philippines, where she also took and passed the Philippine Bar Exam. In 2021, she’ll be pursuing her Master of Laws with UC Berkeley, while continuing to work full time at Valley Vision.
As a law student, Isa concentrated her coursework on environmental law and wrote her thesis on climate change regulations and foreign investment disputes. In her freshman year of law school, she co-headed a nonprofit focused on providing relief to communities neglected in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan and encouraging volunteerism among the Filipino youth.
She was an editor for her university’s law review, where she spearheaded the publication of an issue that dealt with evolving norms in environmental law and policy. She has done internships in a variety of legal fields, including a clerkship with a Philippine supreme court justice, internships with two private practice law firms, and a research internship with the Forest Foundation Philippines, Inc.
Isa grew up in the hustle and bustle of Manila, where her parents and tortoiseshell cat Pusshums still reside.
