Sacramento Neighborhoods Activating on Air Quality (SNAAQ) Final Report (March 2026)
Since 2018, Valley Vision has been involved in implementation of the Community Air Protection Program (AB 617) in the Capital Region. This program helps California’s most pollution-impacted neighborhoods monitor their air and reduce local pollution.
Through a series of three CARB Community Air Grants starting in 2019, Valley Vision has worked with communities in North Sacramento, Oak Park/Fruitridge, and Meadowview to (1) deploy air quality monitors, (2) develop a strategy for emissions reductions, and (3) fund $150,000+ in mini-grants to community organizations.
In 2026, Valley Vision published a report outlining outcomes of the 11 community projects in North Sacramento, Oak Park/Fruitridge, and Meadowview. Between 2025 and 2026, these projects collectively:
- Reduced 38 metric tons of carbon dioxide and associated air pollution across Sacramento County’s frontline communities (this is equivalent to driving 96,000 miles, or powering 5 average American homes for a year!)
- Reached 6,539 residents through educational programs, workshops, tree planting events, and much more
